It’s my Parting Shot for some answers to questions posed on the T-S-N website…..
First question…What’s next after World Series Game 3 marathon? My answer…the result of the epic 18-inning contest will be that The Fearless Predictor’s pre-series prognostication will come true! I hope not, I’d like to see more classic battles like last night’s through the rest of this week, but I fear the emotional level on both sides – as a result of last night – will now come into play. The L-A Dodgers have to be exhilarated and the Toronto Blue Jays must be heartbroken. The onus is on the Jays to find a way to come back and I just don’t think they’ll be able to do it! Not against all those eight-figure salaried superstars that the Dodgers have, who can probably smell the blood in the water like the championship sharks they are!!
Next question…How does potential Springer injury change things for Jays? Answer…In short, mightily – although I’m not certain that George Springer will allow himself to be sidelined. He’s toughing it out and I’m sure he will continue to try and do so with the help of Toronto’s training staff! Having said that, Springer is hitting .246 in the playoffs and has home run power and the ability to come up with big hits at key times – something that was missing in the Blue Jays’ line-up after the seventh inning last night. If Springer is out, it’s going to be up to Vladimir Guerrero Junior and Alejandro Kirk to pick up the slack, if they are able to after being crestfallen last night!!
Last question…Leafs, Oilers, Penguins: Who deserves trust and who doesn’t? Answer…doesn’t for Leafs, maybe for Oilers and doesn’t for Penguins. I’m taking the pictures of the key players from each team into consideration here. It’s time for Toronto to divest themselves of Auston Matthews and get a big return in the wake of dealing Mitch Marner to Vegas. The Maple Leafs will never win with Matthews as their go-to guy! In Edmonton, the window to win has three years and it’s up to G-M Stan Bowman to surround Connor McDavid with the talent needed to do so. The jury is out as to whether that will happen or not. And, in Pittsburgh, Sidney Crosby is likely too nice to do this, but he should ask to be traded to a team with a shot at winning the Stanley Cup and the Penguins should oblige him out of respect and keep on paying at least half of his salary!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk on the road with the Blades…and it turned out nice again!
