At 8:03 a.m. Tuesday the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a fire at a school on Nelson Road. St. Joseph High School and Centennial Collegiate are both located in the 100 block of Nelson Road in Saskatoon’s University Heights neighbourhood.
When firefighters arrived, they could see smoke coming from the northeast portables and discovered the smoke was caused by smoldering Styrofoam and welding from a construction site.
Everyone evacuated safely. Fire crews set up fans to ventilate the smoke, and a damage estimate has not yet been determined.
