The Saskatoon Police Service says they have been able to return a lost wallet and nab a suspect following an assault last weekend.
Police were called to a convenience store in the 200 block of Kensington Boulevard after receiving a report that a man was causing a disturbance inside. When police arrived officers saw a store in complete disarray.
Their investigation determined a man came into the store and started beating up an employee with closed fists and then armed himself with a wet-floor sign and continued to hit the victim before fleeing the scene.
A short time later, a customer entered the store and turned in a wallet that had been found in the parking lot which, when checking the identification inside, turned out to be the same man who had just assaulted the employee.
Armed with a name and address officers were headed to the suspect’s home when they received another call for service in the same area after a suspicious man had been knocking on the back door of a home.
The Saskatoon Police Service says the suspicious male knocking at the door was also the suspect from the assault. He was returned his wallet and subsequently arrested and charged with assault, assault with a weapon, and mischief under $5,000.
