What started as a food fight ended in over $3000 in tickets for two Saskatoon high school students.
In a post on Facebook, the Saskatoon Police Service says the duo was at a north-end high school when one student threw a piece of cheese at the other. The lighthearted feud quickly escalated into a street race on Circle Drive, where the drivers sped past an unmarked police car at 155 and 153 km per hour, respectively.
The 16-year-old pair were caught at the Preston Avenue north exit and dealt a flurry of penalties, including 7-day license suspensions, 30-day vehicle impoundments, and tickets totaling $1546 and $1524 each.
