On Friday around 2:00 p.m., Pinehouse RCMP received a report of a shooting just outside of Pinehouse. Officers located a seriously injured man who was transported to the local clinic where he was declared deceased. He has been identified as 30-year-old Braydon Natomagan from Pinehouse.

Investigators determined a fight took place between a group of people where a gun was fired injuring the victim. Two suspects fled from the scene in a vehicle.

Officers patrolling the surrounding area saw the suspect vehicle near Beauval. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued to flee from police before coming to a stop on an off-road trail. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

Twenty-five-year-old Christopher Nolan and 31-year-old Kelsey Iron are in Meadow Lake Provincial Court facing charges today.

Charges are as follows

Christopher Nolan is charged with
– one count, second degree murder, Section 235(1), Criminal Code; and
– one count, firearm possession while prohibited, Section 109(2), Criminal Code.

Kelsey Iron is charged with:
– one count, accessory after the fact to murder, Section 240, Criminal Code;
– one count, flight from police, Section 320.17, Criminal Code;
– one count, dangerous driving, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code; and
– one count, refusal to comply with breath demand, Section 320.15(1), Criminal Code.
