The Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) at the University of Saskatchewan has installed a new magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) unit and a linear accelerator to provide the best possible cancer care for dogs, cats and rabbits.
The previous equipment was aging and the MRI is much stronger and can precisely find tumors. Dr. Monique Mayer is a WCVM veterinary radiation oncologist
About one-half of dogs and one-thirds of cats will get cancer in their lifetime.
The project’s total cost was $9.1 million with donors from across the country covering more than half of the price tag.
