A 46-year-old man faces a handful of charges following a Saturday afternoon evade police incident.
According to a Saskatoon Police Service (S-P-S) news release, an officer on patrol attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of Clarence Avenue South and Aird Street at about 3:45 p.m. on September 27. The vehicle began evading police in a dangerous manner and the officer disengaged the pursuit with the Air Support Unit taking over. The A-S-U saw the vehicle park in an alley in the 300 block of McKinnon Avenue, with the suspect walking away from it. He then stole a bike from a yard in the 300 block of Hugo Avenue and rode to the 1500 block of 15th Street East where he was arrested without further incident. A search of his person led to police finding suspected methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia. The 46-year-old male suspect is charged with dangerous driving, operating a vehicle being pursued by police, theft under five thousand dollars and possession of a controlled substance.
