The STARS 10th annual Rescue on the Prairie event raised $417,000 on Wednesday.
Beginning at the STARS base in Saskatoon, participants were airlifted by a STARS helicopter to a remote prairie location. Throughout the day participants called friends, family, and colleagues to help meet their fundraising goal of at least $50,000 each, to earn their flight home.
In a news release Tim Hammond, rescue participant and founder and CEO of Hammond Realty said, “As someone deeply connected to Saskatchewan’s farming community, I know how vital STARS is to rural families.”
Participants competed in a series of challenges focused on engineering, fundraising, medical, and STARS’ Emergency Link Centre. At every step, they were paired with a STARS air medical crew member.
Other participants included the Founder and Medical Director, Bella Sante MD Cosmetic and Laser Clinic; former owner Melody Motors in Melfort, President and CEO of Saskatchewan Blue Cross and President of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce.
