The Saskatchewan NDP says the provincial government could have prevented the recent death of a Moose Jaw senior.
An NDP news release says the man passed away while living in his vehicle and waiting for supportive housing from a community-based organization.
Square One’s supportive housing program is operating at full capacity with 36 people housed and a waitlist of 50 individuals. The NDP says the Sask. Party refuses to fund the organization.
The release cites observations from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, indicating that the price of a two-bedroom apartment in Moose Jaw doubled since 2007 to $1,177 in 2024.
The opposition is calling on the Province to focus on lowering the cost of living for families and individuals.
