SaskEnergy is launching a new affordability program to help income-qualifying homeowners lower their heating bills.
The Heating Affordability Program aims to replace the furnaces of 50 homeowners facing financial barriers, free of charge.
A release from SaskEnergy says older, low-efficiency furnaces result in higher heating bills as more fuel is required to provide the same amount of heat as a high-efficiency model. Through this program, participating customers can expect to save up to $650 every year on natural gas and electricity.
Only customers taking part in the SaskPower’s Energy Assistance Program can access HAP. They will need to meet income and existing heating equipment criteria, as well. Those who are eligible will be sent an invitation directly.
