There was a crash between a delivery truck and an SUV shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday morning at 51st Street and Millar Avenue.
Saskatoon Fire Crews used an extrication tool to pry door open to gain access to a driver as well as using a saw to cut a small traffic sign away from the passenger door to gain access to the passenger.
Two people were transferred to the waiting ambulance.
An hour earlier, firefighters responded to a house fire in the 1700 block of Avenue B North. When firefighters arrived, they could see smoke coming from the home.
Everyone had evacuated safely, and no one was injured. After the fire was put out, fire crews set up large fans to remove any lingering smoke and toxins from the building.
The fire investigator is determining the cause, origin, and damage estimate.
Meanwhile, Sunday is Firefighters’ National Memorial Day.
The second Sunday in September of each year is formally designated in memory of firefighters who have fallen in the line of duty.
The Saskatoon Fire Department observed a moment of silence at 10 a.m. Firefighters will be at attention on the ramps of their stations and flags at half-mast in honour of Firefighter’s National Memorial Day.
