RCMP say 19-year-old Drayden McAdam of the Big River First Nation has now been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm and resist/obstruct peace officer.
In addition, McAdam was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and four other offences in relation to a September 6th incident on Big River First Nation, for which there was an outstanding warrant for him.
On September 10, around 2:50 p.m., Big River RCMP received a report of an armed male on the First Nation.
Responding officers learned the suspect was driving around the community on a dirt bike and discharged a firearm several times. No injuries were reported.
When police located a suspect, he fled on foot into a forested area. Out of consideration for public safety, Saskatchewan RCMP issued the dangerous person alert at 4:09 p.m. and called in their Police Dog Services, Remotely Piloted Aircraft System and Critical Incident Response Team to help with the search.
The suspect was located and arrested around 6:15 p.m. near Big River First Nation. At 6:21 p.m. the RCMP ended the dangerous person alert.
McAdam will appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday to face those charges.
