Yorkton’s healthcare system is gaining a residency training seat in family medicine thanks to a partnership between the Province and the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Medicine.
This year, the College of Medicine is offering 68 seats in the 2026 Canadian Residency Match System match, which is an increase of 20 seats over the past five years.
Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill says, “This expansion will help to address health care needs in rural Saskatchewan, and we encourage new residents to consider building their practice here in the future.”
Additional seats will be announced in other communities, and they are expected to launch training July 1, 2026.
