The 2025 Metis Nation -Saskatchewan General Assembly has wrapped up following two days of dialogue and decision making.
Over the course of the two-day event, the 2023-24 budget audit was accepted, and the new 2025-26 operating budget was passed.
Delegates also accepted the Métis distinct resolution focusing on identity, culture, values, and language
The results of an independent audit of the registry by K-P-M-G were also presented at the assembly. They confirmed that citizenship applications submitted under the Coming Home program undergo rigorous validation and found that the registry complies with the criteria set out by the Canadian Standards Association.
In his State of the Nation address, MN–S President Glen McCallum said, “We have a new government with a mandate to focus on the future for our citizens. We can’t dwell on the past, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and we certainly aren’t going to build a government in eight years, but we have accomplished too much to go back. 11,000 Métis students have achieved post-secondary education, 1,800 Métis families have become first-time homeowners, with our partners we’re establishing land-based treatment centres, supportive housing, and the list goes on.”
