The James Smith First Nation was under lockdown for three hours Monday as a precaution, by community leaders.
Melfort RCMP received a report of an injured and missing person around 10 a.m. According to the Saskatchewan RCMP, officers responded immediately and were able to locate the individual unharmed on the James Smith Cree Nation. According to a Facebook post, community leaders issued the alert around 10 a.m. and ended it just before 1 p.m.
The Saskatchewan RCMP say they did not issue an emergency alert or lockdown. Their investigation did not result in any charges and RCMP say they believe the matter to be concluded. A Facebook post from James Smith Cree Nation stated the lockdown was over and the community is safe.
