Tayen Werner is the August recipient of the Sask Sport Athlete-of-the-Month salute.
A member of the Saskatoon Track and Field club, Werner won gold in the women’s 400 metres at the Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and was part of the winning Saskatchewan team in the four-by-400-metre relay event. Werner also won gold in the 400 metres at the Under-20 Canadian Championships prior to the Canada Games. Following is the news release from Sask Sport…..

National success earns Werner August Athlete of the Month
After earning top of the podium three times at two national events, Tayen Werner is named August Athlete of the Month.
While representing Team Saskatchewan at the Canada Summer Games in Newfoundland, Werner claimed gold in the women’s 400-metre event and the 4×400-m relay race.
Earlier in the month at the U20 Canadian National Championships, Werner ran a personal best to secure gold in the women’s 400-m event. She also finished 9th in the 200-m race.
Werner was nominated by Saskatchewan Athletics.
