The Provincial NDP has taken issue with a recent move by the Saskatchewan Health Authority to direct patients-in-need to a closed emergency room.
According to the Opposition, on Monday and Tuesday the emergency rooms in Davidson and in Outlook were both closed, but patients in Outlook were still being directed to Davidson, about an hour’s drive away.
Once they arrived to find a locked door, they had to continue on to Saskatoon, adding another hour to their journey.
Health Critic Keith Jorgenson says this issue isn’t new. In the first 18 months of Scott Moe’s leadership, there were 86 closures, or 808 days of lost healthcare service. That number has jumped to 643 closures between November 2023 and May 2025, totaling 3,362 days of lost service.
