An older, more experienced Prince Albert Raiders roster took the Saskatoon Blades to task on Friday, recording a 7-1 victory before just over 800 fans at the Art Hauser Centre in P-A.
The Raiders dressed 20 players with 930 games worth of regular-season W-H-L experience, compared to less than 800 games on the Bridge City Bunch roster – and it showed as Prince Albert scored three times in the final 10 minutes of the first period and made the score 5-0 before the mid-point of the second frame, on their way to their first win in three pre-season starts against the Blue and Gold. Raiders’ captain and defenceman Justice Christensen scored twice. He was one of two, 20-year-olds and five 19-year-olds dressed for P-A while the Blades responded with two, 19-year-olds and no 20-year-olds in their line-up. Saskatoon was out-shot 41-18 to further illustrate the age and experience disparity. The Raiders did get production from a pair of 16-year-olds, looking to make the squad this season, as defenceman Brock Cripps had a goal and three assists and right winger Ben Harvey chipped in with three helpers. Evan Smith, Riley Boychuk, Connor Howe and Jonah Sivertson also tallied for Prince Albert. Boychuk added an assist to his goal while towering 19-year-old Czech defenceman Matyas Man had two helpers for the Raiders. Colten Worthington scored the lone goal for the Bridge City Bunch, who will be designated as the home team for the fourth game in five days between the Blue and Gold and P-A on Saturday evening in Warman.
