Canada’s unemployment rate climbed to 7.1 per cent in August. The economy lost 60-thousand part-time jobs, as well as six-thousand full-time jobs.
If you exclude the pandemic period, the unemployment rate has now hit its highest level since May 2016.
In Saskatchewan the unemployment rate fell to 4.7 per cent from five per cent the month prior. It’s the lowest of all the provinces.
However, the unemployment rate went up in the province’s two major cities. Regina at 5.9 per cent in August compared to 5.6 per cent in July. In Saskatoon the unemployment rate climbed to 5.0 per cent from 4.5 per cent the month before.
