Prince Albert Police Service say their officers have arrested two suspects in the wake of a series of violent incidents that occurred overnight Friday. It started around 10:27 p.m. on August 29th police responded to a report of a robbery with a firearm in the 600 block of 17th Street West.
Police say two victims were seated in a vehicle in a driveway when two masked suspects, armed with a shotgun, approached the vehicle and assaulted one of the victims with the weapon then stole the victim’s dark blue 2016 Chevrolet Cruze.
Shortly after midnight on Saturday police were dispatched to the 1000 block of 14th Street West. They had received a report of a gun being fired. A male victim had been shot by suspects in a passing vehicle and was ultimately transferred from hospital in P.A. to Saskatoon for treatment of significant injuries.
Minutes later, at 12:11 a.m., police received a report of another robbery with a firearm on Jack Matheson Crescent where a dark Chevrolet Cruze pulled up beside a parked vehicle, and masked suspects approached with a shotgun. When the victim tried to flee, his vehicle was shot and disabled. The suspects tried but failed to steal the vehicle before fleeing in the Cruze.
At 1:41 a.m., police responded to the unit block of River Street East, where two victims were confronted by suspects with a shotgun while parked in a Ford Escape. The victims fled on foot as a weapon was discharged. The suspects then stole the SUV and left the scene with both the Escape and the previously stolen Cruze.
The stolen vehicles were located in the 20th Avenue West area, and a Police Service Dog tracked down two suspects, while en route, police also recovered three firearms.
A 27-year-old-woman and 28-year-old-man were taken into custody and are in court today facing multiple firearm offences.
Members of the Prince Albert Police Service Patrol Section, RCMP, and a Canine Officer with the Ministry of Corrections, Policing, and Public Safety were part of the investigation.
