Today, August 29, 2025 is my final Coffeetalk as I am retiring except for hosting Vic’s Country Classics Sunday afternoon from 1-4. Our News Director Vanese Fergeson will be doing Coffeetalk starting Wednesday. When you think of the passage of time some things that happened years ago feel like yesterday while others make you realize how the years have flown. When I arrived in Saskatoon from Calgary in July of 1983 to be Program Director of CJWW I of course had no idea my stay would be permanent, becoming General Manager, getting married, having children and now grandchildren, and eventually retiring here after 42 years. Benchmark programs Call for Country, Saturday night Old Tyme Dance Party and Sunday night Country Gospel were on the air in 1983 and are still here today. I began Boots & Salutes in 1984 my first day hosting the breakfast show and I did my first Coffeetalk in November of 1997, almost 28 years ago.
I’ve been asked where my ideas came from, and I say anywhere and everywhere. I can never be certain what you might find interesting or thought provoking and when I look back through the years, I hope maybe some were diamonds, and maybe some were just rocks, but hopefully not too many. Well, that’ll do it. I’ll talk to you Sunday on Vic’s Country Classics and remember, never be afraid to take on more than you think you can handle, or you’ll never know how much you can do.
That’s Coffeetalk. I’m Vic Dubois.
