The Nutrien Firework Festival coming up this weekend means some road closures for downtown Saskatoon.
Starting today at 7:00 p.m. and lasting until Sunday at 10:00 a.m., Spadina Crescent between 2nd and 3rd avenues will be closed for staging.
Then, starting tomorrow at 9:00 a.m., closures will come into effect on the traffic Bridge between 11th and 19th streets, 2nd Avenue between Saunders Place and Spadina Crescent, and 3rd Avenue between 19th Street and Traffic Bridge.
Saskatoon Transit will temporarily adjust detour routes that currently run on Victoria Avenue and the Traffic Bridge during this event. Route 8 will use 8th Street, Idylwyld Drive, and the Senator Sid Buckwold Bridge to maintain service to and from the downtown area. Travel along Victoria Avenue and the Traffic Bridge will resume once event-related closures are lifted.
In unrelated closure news, Taylor Street will be closed between Victoria and Eastlake avenues starting at 8:00 a.m. Thursday for a connection replacement. Detours will be in place guiding motorists around the area. This project is expected to take two days to complete. Broadway Avenue will also be closed between 10th and 12th streets today starting at 4:00 p.m. for the Broadway BID Block Party. Detours will be in place guiding motorists around the event. This closure is expected to be lifted after 10:00 p.m..
