Saskatoon Police are asking the public for help in identifying two men following two separate bear spray incidents.
First, Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. it was reported that two people deployed bear spray inside Midtown Plaza. Two people were found suffering from the effects of the spray.
Then, just 10 minutes later, a male in the 100 block of Spadina Crescent told police he had been bear sprayed by two unknown males.
One suspect is described as wearing a black hoodie, black shorts, and black shoes. The second suspect was wearing a grey hoodie, black pants, socks and sandals, and a black balaclava.
Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact Saskatoon Police or Crime Stoppers.
Changes went into effect July 30th to the City of Saskatoon’s Business Licence Bylaw regarding the sale of bear spray.
A licensing and permitting manager said at the time that youth-related offences in the city have spiked by more than 500 per cent since 2021.
Some of the changes include a mandatory buyer registry to record the buyer’s information alongside the name of the employee who completes the sale.
