A call about a suspicious vehicle at a local campground has led to the arrest of a Saskatchewan man and the recovery of a stolen travel trailer.
Evansburg RCMP say they were called to the area on July 17 after someone reported a vehicle behaving suspiciously. When officers arrived, they located a vehicle and a 2014 Crossroads travel trailer, which was later confirmed stolen from Acheson on July 12.
The driver was arrested at the scene. After confirming his identity, police say they discovered the man had several outstanding warrants for unpaid fines totalling $10,000.
Joshua Stricker, 51, of Saskatoon, is now facing charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order.
He was remanded into custody after a hearing before a justice of the peace and is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain on July 23.
“We would like to thank the public for taking the time to call in the suspicious vehicle,” said Cpl. Darren Ryan in a statement. “It is important for the public to call in suspicious activity so that we can better fight criminality within our communities and keep everyone and their hard-earned possessions safe.”
RCMP are encouraging the public to continue reporting any suspicious activity in the area.
