The Dodsland Volunteer Fire Department was busy Friday morning after responding to a call that the community rink was on fire.
The report came in around 6 a.m. Crews remain on scene and the full extent of the damage as well as the cause has not yet been determined.
The rink is home to the Dodsland Stars and Western Prairie Thunder, but also the hub for sports, family gatherings and community memories.
Via a Facebook statement, Atlas York Insurance described the news as “devastating,” calling the rink “the heartbeat of the town.”
The fire department says more information will be released as it becomes available. There were no reports of injuries.
