A celebration of National Bison Week, wrapping up on Saturday, is taking place at Wanuskewin Heritage Park.
National Bison Week encourages Canadians to learn, celebrate, and share the history of bison in the country, something much easier to do when there is a herd close to home. The week of acknowledgment included interpretive programming on the significance of the bison, as well as the observation of Wanuskewin’s conservation bison herd of 50, which includes 13 calves that were born this year.
Wanuskewin is still on the road to becoming a UNESCO World Heritage Site designation and will submit its nomination package to Parks Canada.
