“Back to Batoche Days” is an annual cultural event celebrating Métis culture and heritage and to reconnect with friends. Métis Nation–Saskatchewan is hosting this four-day family-friendly event from July 17-20, 2025, with many options for individuals to enjoy including activities for children such as music, dance, rodeo, and a traditional bison harvest as well.
Another fun feature at the festival this year is ‘Batoche Idol’ with Rebecca Strong, the season three winner of Canada’s Got Talent who will be a guest judge.
The largest outdoor Indigenous festival in Canada is expected to bring approximately 40,000 people to enjoy the fun and immersive activities.
Victor Guillet is President of Batoche Local 51 and says the event is for everyone. “I can’t stress this enough. It’s a celebration of our Metis culture, our history, our background and everyone’s invited. We stress that it’s not only for Metis People. Come on out and celebrate.”
The festival will have shuttles to and from the historical grounds provided.
Jason Mercredi is the Acting COO of Metis Nation-Saskatchewan and says the festival is a lot of fun offering something for everyone. “We have music and dance, and Rebecca Strong is coming to sing. Along with the rodeo, jigging and traditional bison harvest, we have Indian relays. It’s going to be off the charts, and we want to make sure everyone knows there’s a lot of events and activities for the children and it’s going to be a very fun event for the community and the whole province, really.”
Individuals can learn about the language and history and participate in art and enjoy other forms of dance. A tattoo artist will be available along with other vendors on site.
