As of 7 this morning (Fri), there are five communities with partial or full evacuation orders from wildfires in Saskatchewan, and to date there have been 23. Last year at this time, there hadn’t been any, and the five-year average is 2.
As for the wildfires themselves, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency says there are 56 active wildfires, with 14 not contained, 20 under ongoing assessment, at 17, crews are protecting some infrastructure and 5 are contained. Year to date, there have been 364 wildfires, while the five-year average is 232.
