Now that summer is here in all its glory there are lots of things to do and places to go. The annual Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Summer Festival is on now in the big amphitheatre down by the river on Spadina Crescent East. A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Tragedy of Richard III are being presented this year. The SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival is on now with a variety of free and ticketed programs running until July 12 in Victoria Park and various other venues. The YXE Urban Games are on in Victoria Park July 18-20. The largest outdoor Indigenous Festival in Canada, Back to Batoche Days, runs July 17-20 at the Back to Batoche Festival grounds. The Saskatoon Ex starts July 31st and runs for eight exciting days at Prairieland Park. The Saskatoon Fringe Festival produced by 25th Street Theatre also starts July 31st and goes for nine days at three venues. Check the Fringe website to find out what’s on and where. Sports fans can enjoy professional baseball at Cairns Field with our own Saskatoon Berries. The summer fun continues in August with a somewhat trimmed down but still going Folkfest August 15 & 16 and of course there’s Rock the River and Show & Shine weekend downtown Saskatoon August 15-17. Ukrainian Day in the Park is on August 30 in Kiwanis Memorial Park and the Nutrien Fireworks Festival happens August 29 and 30 at River Landing and Rotary Park. Plenty of things to do and see around here as summer unfolds.
