Prince Albert RCMP responded around 3 p.m. Tuesday after receiving multiple calls from the public about a group of people blocking a bridge on Highway 2 about 20 kilometres north of P.A.
It was a group of protesters who had signs saying ‘Obstruction of Treaty Rights’ and ‘Say No to Bill C-5.’ Bill C-5 is legislation passed last week to speed up the permitting of major projects.
Motorists reported the protesters hit their vehicle as they drove past.
RCMP tried to get them to get off the highway, but they refused and even after issuing tickets for unlawfully walking on a highway a woman refused to leave and was arrested. No charges have been laid.
