Aerin Bowers walked out of the ocean over the lunch hour (SK time) and up the beach pulling her swim cap off and raising her arms in victory. She had to clear the wet sand without anyone touching her for the swim to be official. Aerin Bowers spent 16 hours and 33 minutes swimming to achieve her goal of swimming the English Channel.

–Original Story–
Saskatoon born athlete Aerin Bowers is just 2.5 kilometres from completing her goal of swimming the English Channel.
Bowers is the daughter of Saskatchewan sports icon Kelly Bowers and says she had planned the swim for 2024, but her effort was torpedoed by uncooperative weather.
Aerin had a ten-day window to do the swim. She got into the water at 3:30 a.m., around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night our time, on June 30th in Dover, England so she has already been in the water for more than 15 hours.
She had estimated the swim could be 35 or 36 kilometres depending on the tides and would take 12 to 16 hours to swim it.
The trip to England and her pursuit of a goal to swim the English Channel is entirely self-funded but she has set a goal to raise $10,000 for Jumpstart. She points out that it has helped over 4 million kids in Canada have access to sport.
