The Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute (PAMI) was started in Humboldt in 1975 and will mark the occasion.
PAMI will celebrate the 50th anniversary with an open house between 11 and 2:30 on Thursday.
PAMI started solely as a place to test agricultural equipment—but has since expanding to testing equipment for all areas of the economy, such as mining.
Jim Wasserman worked for 36 years as PAMI—first as an engineer and then the Vice President of Saskatchewan Operations.
Wasserman’s first job involved testing grain dryers.
PAMI was very busy in those days.
Wasserman says PAMI evolved and started working with short-line companies, many from Saskatchewan.
Thursday’s event in Humboldt will run from 11am to 2:30pm. Saskatchewan’s current Agriculture Minister Darryl Harrison and the last Agriculture Minister David Marit will be both in attendance.
There will be several displays and tours along with the unveiling of a special sculpture made by a former PAMI employee.
