According to the Prince Albert Police Service 2024 report, released Wednesday, the community has seen a 10 per cent uptick in sexual violations, but a decrease in every other crime category.
Calls for service decreased by 5.29 per cent, property crime was down nearly 20 per cent, and break and enters were right behind it with a 19 per cent decrease.
In 2024, victims of violent crime were down by 12 per cent, and victims of assault were down by 12.6 per cent.
The introduction of the Patrol Support Unit in 2024 is among many new initiatives highlighted in the Prince Albert Police Service’s (PAPS) 2024 Annual Report
In a news release, PAPS added the launching of the bike and camera registry, re-establishing the women’s commission, advanced recommendations from the provincial inquiry and the enhancement of its Human Resources and Finance roles as being key introductions last year.
In addition, the Prince Albert Police Service Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan (CTSS) Unit focused on traffic safety in the city while utilizing their new CTSS motorcycle during the summer months. PAPS adds that the report outlines its strategic plan, budget, organization structure, crime statistics, board of police commissioners, achievements and recognizes the community events the police took part in during 2024.
