It’s my Parting Shot for my Monday Musings…..
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are 3-0 after sweeping the province of Ontario to start the season! Two things – who came up with this ridiculous schedule in which the Green and White don’t play a West Division rival during the first three weeks?! And, two – because they have yet to lose, anybody who complains about their level of play should be sent downstairs to their room at their parent’s house without supper! Seriously, no complaining about a team tied for the best record in the C-F-L until they actually lose!
Having said that, just because Murphy’s Law is a real thing, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Riders lose at home to B-C, especially if the Lions are still without Nathan Rourke at quarterback, on Saturday!
Also, thanks to wins by Montreal in Edmonton and Ottawa at Calgary, the latter played during a torrential downpour, the C-F-L East has been revived somewhat. The West has won five of seven inter-division games!
Back to Friday’s game in Toronto and new T-S-N analyst Luke Willson tore a strip off the quality of play in that game and says that kind of game is what hurts the C-F-L when it comes to appealing to the younger demographics. It’s hard to disagree because I whistled through that game on my P-V-R in pretty short order!
Trust the Blue Jays to lose two of three to the Chicago White Sox over the weekend, at home no less! The only team worse than the ChiSox in the Majors is Colorado. One can only hope, if you’re a Jays’ fan, that they don’t play a series against the Rockies this season…a guaranteed three straight losses it says here!
The N-H-L’s entry draft and free agent signing period must be around the corner – there have been six trades over the last 11 days, five of which I would consider significant. Buckle up hockey fans, the season never ends and it’s about to get really interesting off the ice!!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
