About 2,000 people are still under wildfire evacuation orders, but that number is way down from the peak of 15,000 earlier this month.

At last word, there were 19 active wildfires, but the three largest have not grown. The Shoe fire is 40 per cent contained, the Pisew fire in the La Ronge region is 20 per cent contained, while the Wolf Fire in the Denare Beach/Creighton area is 30 per cent contained
Community leaders in Denare Beach/Creighton are telling residents to bring at least a week’s supply of groceries and medications because there is no access to nearby Flin Flon until their evacuation is lifted.

A total of 299 homes and 60 cabins were destroyed by wildfires in Saskatchewan, including 218 residences in Denare Beach. The Village Council says those who have lost their homes must secure accommodations before returning.
