In a news release, Saskatchewan RCMP say an arrest warrant has been issued for 28-year-old Donny Gurney (pictured) from the Nekaneet First Nation. The Swift Current Rural detachment received a report of a vehicle theft in the R-M of Swift Current at about 8 a.m. on June 19. Investigating officers were able to determine that Gurney approached a rural property, broke into two buildings and stole a brown 2005 F-350 truck (pictured, below) with Saskatchewan license plate 909 EFZ. The truck was equipped with a silver toolbox and a fifth wheel hitch in the box, plus a farm company name in white lettering on the driver and passenger side windows. While the truck theft is believed to have occurred in the early morning hours of June 19, Swift Current RCMP spotted the stolen vehicle at about 4 p.m. on Sidney Street East in Swift Current. Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment and attempted a traffic stop, but the truck didn’t stop and fled from police. Donny Gurney is charged with one count each of possession of property obtained by crime over five thousand dollars, flight from peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and fail to comply with probation order. Gurney is described as being six feet tall, weighing 180 pounds with brown eyes and black hair plus multiple tattoos. The public is reminded to not approach Donny Gurney is you see him, but to report information as to his whereabouts and sightings of the brown truck by calling the RCMP or contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
