It’s my Parting Shot for The Fearless Predictor’s Week 3 C-F-L picks…..
If not for Calgary surprising me and winning in Toronto, I’d have been four-for-four in Week 2. But, I’m satisfied with another 3-1 week – meaning 6-2 overall to date. On to Week 3…
…and beginning with Montreal at Edmonton tonight. The Alouettes, in the Davis Alexander era, are off to a 2-0 start while the Elks had last week’s bye after losing in B-C. This is a critical game, in my estimation, for Edmonton. The Elks haven’t won a home opener in four years and a loss would start up memories of 0-5, 0-8 and 0-7 starts the last three years amongst the fan base. Hence, I’m going with Edmonton by less than a field goal!
Tomorrow, it’s Saskatchewan at Toronto. The Riders are 2-0 and the Argos are 0-2. Both teams have injury issues, but it seems like the Argos not having Chad Kelly to play quarterback is more of a problem than the Green and White minus some O-lineman, and now Samuel Emilus at receiver. I’m taking Saskatchewan by more than a touchdown!
The Saturday doubleheader begins with Ottawa traveling to Calgary. Dru Brown could return to quarterback the RedBlacks, which would be a huge help to an Ottawa team that, like Toronto, is supposed to contend this year and can’t really afford to go 0-3 for their patient fan base. Another loss could be bad news for head coach Bob Dyce – a shame because he is a good man and a good coach! The Stamps are without Reggie Begelton for six games, but have more pass-catching depth than just him. I’m picking the RedBlacks by less than a field goal!
That leaves Saturday night’s Winnipeg in B-C contest. Zach Collaros will be back under centre for the Blue Bombers, who won their season-opener at home over the Leos, while it remains to be seen if Nathan Rourke will be the Lions’ signal-caller after being hurt late in Winnipeg. He didn’t participate in practice yesterday after being limited on Tuesday with a “core” issue. If Rourke plays, it’s B-C by more than a touchdown! If he doesn’t, the Bombers win by more than two scores! Yes, I’m waffling!!
I’m actually sitting on the fence for all of the games – but at least I’m making a firm choice on three of them, so get off my case!!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
