It’s my Parting Shot for my reactions to the headlines in today’s Star-Phoenix Sports Section…..

First headline…Head coach isn’t worried about Riders’ kicking game, Lauther has the confidence of Mace and his teammates, Darrell Davis writes. My reaction…nor should any Rider Priders have any concerns about Brett Lauther having an off night back on Saturday in Hamilton. Lauther has taken ownership of missing kicks that could’ve given the Saskatchewan Roughriders upwards of a two touchdown win, not just a five-point margin. Again, not that margin of victory has anything to do in pro team sports! Brett Lauther went through this last year as well – and several of his seasons in Green and White! He’ll bounce back. He’s a professional who cares and will work at his craft, make the necessary adjustments and be just fine the rest of the season!!

Next headline…Paisley to play Grey Cup event. Reaction…that’s a very good get for the C-F-L and Winnipeg’s Grey Cup hosting committee, booking a first rate country music act and singer in Brad Paisley while he is on tour in Western Canada. He plays in the Winnipeg Jets’ arena on Friday, November 14th, then heads here to Saskatoon to play the next night at SaskTel Centre. If you want to know how the Friday show went and his thoughts on being a part of, what used to be called, Canada’s national drunk, get your tickets now for one or the other of those dates! Or both!!

Last headline…Movie should help to grow sport even more, Immersive F-1 film takes viewers behind the scenes of a race weekend. My reaction…a hard pass from me! And, F-1 fans can tell me to take a long walk off a short pier, which would work because I’m a prolific non-swimmer, or tell me that they have no interest in my favourite sports – which are many and plentiful. But, auto racing isn’t on that list for me – never has been, never will be! A collossal waste of time and money! Besides, I can see enough racing by selfish city drivers on a daily basis, who have no clue of the rules of the road – and don’t care!!

Oh, one last thing – The Fearless Predictor is very happy to be wrong with his Stanley Cup final pick! Good Canadians like Sam Bennett and Brad Marchand led Florida to the N-H-L title – enough said about the whole Canadian team tripe!!
