The Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit is now leading the investigation into the homicide of a 35-year-old man near Grand Coulee.
The victim has been identified as Aron Lunan of Regina. Last Tuesday RCMP responded to a report of a deceased person near the community located 15 kilometres west of Regina. The suspicious death is now being treated as a homicide and the investigation has determined that the case originated in Regina and as such the Regina Police Service will take over the investigation.
Investigators are urging anyone who may have been in contact with Lunan between last Monday afternoon and the next morning, to reach out. Anyone with information is asked to contact Regina Police or Crime Stoppers.
In a separate incident Saturday morning Regina Police laid attempted murder charges in connection to a fight that took place shortly after 3 a.m. They say it involved multiple individuals and during the incident a vehicle drove into the group hitting two people before crashing into a tree.
The driver fled the scene. One victim was taken to hospital by EMS with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The other victim was assessed at the scene and determined to have sustained minor injuries.
While officers were investigating, a male suspect returned to the scene and identified himself to police. He was arrested without incident.
