Saskatoon Police are investigating an early morning stabbing on Saturday in the Nutana area.

Around 4:15, police were called to the 600 block of McPherson Avenue where a man was found outside with a serious stab wound. He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Further investigation showed the stabbing may have occurred in a nearby clearing on the riverbank.

It is believed the incident was not random in nature.
