The Regina Police Service reported this week that in a recent 14 day span they received 41 reports of Theft from Auto. Police say that in more than 80 per cent of the cases, thieves easily got into the vehicles because the doors were unlocked or the windows were left down. Twelve of the 40 reports involved wallets being stolen from inside the unsecured vehicle.
Some tips to avoid having someone rifle through your vehicle include never leaving valuables in a parked vehicle. If there is nothing of value in sight, there is less reason for thieves to want to get inside.
Remove garage door openers and spare keys to prevent thieves from gaining entry into your garage or home.
Never leave your vehicle running with the keys inside and always lock your vehicle doors.
And never leave your vehicle unattended with the windows rolled down.
