A 31-year-old woman from the James Smith Cree Nation faces a handful of charges after being arrested during a Thursday morning traffic on the James Smith Cree Nation.
A Saskatchewan RCMP news release says Gerilyn Burns was arrested at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday as Melfort RCMP conducted a traffic stop in relation to an ongoing investigation, with the help of security officers from the James Smith Cree Nation. Officers could see drug paraphernalia in plain view in Burns’ vehicle. Further investigation allowed police to locate and seize about 300 grams of cocaine, about 75 grams of crack cocaine, about 60 grams of methamphetamine, about 70 grams of cannabis, plus a large sum of cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia (pictured). Gerilyn Burns was scheduled to appear in Melfort Provincial Court Friday to answer to three counts possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count possession of property obtained by crime over five-thousand dollars and one count possession for the purpose of distributing.
