Prince Albert Police Service says a 25-year-old man has been charged with possession of a weapon, attempting to disarm a police officer, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. Police responded Sunday around 5:30 p.m. to the 2300 block of 6th Avenue East to a report of mischief in progress. Police were told a man was stabbing vehicle tires with a screwdriver. A suspect was located and while trying to take him into custody police allege he began to resist arrest, assault the officer and tried to take the officer’s firearm from its holster. The successful arrest took place shortly after.
The P.A. Police Service is also in the middle of investigating after a shooting on Saturday night. The call came in around 9:30 p.m. from the 800 block of 12th Street West that a male had been stabbed. While en route, further information indicated he’d been shot. The victim was located, and officers gave him first aid before Parkland Ambulance arrived and transported him to hospital.
From Thursday, the Prince Albert Police Service is investigating after a collision between a police cruiser and a civilian vehicle. The police vehicle with emergency equipment activated collided with another vehicle at the intersection of 28th Street East and Central Avenue around 4:30 p.m. The preliminary police investigation indicates the police vehicle was travelling with lights and sirens approaching a red light. Another vehicle on a green light entered the intersection resulting in an accident. One occupant of the civilian vehicle had minor injuries while the officer involved was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police continue to investigate all three incidents.
