For those curious about that it takes to work in the mining industry, or if you’d just like some Saturday entertainment, the 55th annual Emergency Response and Mine Rescue Skills Competition is taking place at Prairieland.

Sixteen teams of highly trained personnel will put their skills to the test in an array of simulated scenarios that could occur for bother emergency workers or mining staff.

Some of the categories include first aid, firefighting, practical skills, surface rope rescue, and a mine problem.

The event takes place today between 7:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
