The City of North Battleford is housing 200 evacuees from northern Saskatchewan who were displaced by wildfires.
The group is receiving supports from the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Battle River Treaty 6 Healthcare, the Prince Albert Grand Council and Indigenous Services Canada.
A Facebook post from the City of North Battleford says, “Over the coming days, additional support for evacuees will likely be required as this situation continues to evolve.”
Items that are needed, as well as drop-off information, will be shared publicly and on cityofnb.ca.
Meanwhile, the Prince Albert Exhibition opened up its campground to those needing a place to stay. They are offering fifty, free, fully serviced RV and trailer campsites to both individuals and families in need. An additional 25 are opening on Monday.
The sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and interested evacuees are asked to contact the campground directly at 306-960-1743 to check availability and register.
