A 29-year-old Nova Scotia man has been arrested for traveling to Lloydminster to commit sexual offences against a minor.

On March 18, Lloydminster RCMP received a complaint regarding an adult who was exchanging sexually explicit pictures with a minor via Snapchat. Officers then learned that the man traveled to Lloydminster to engage in further sexual acts with the child.

Travis James Birt was originally from PEI, but had moved to Ontario, from where he started the Snapchat exchange, before relocating to Nova Scotia.

Birt is now charged with Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Child Luring, Possession of child pornography, and Making sexually explicit material available to a child.

He was remanded into custody and is to appear in court on June 9.
