A man was arrested in Saskatoon’s Fairhaven neighbourhood early Wednesday afternoon after, first, assaulting a woman, then assaulting an attending officer with the Saskatoon Police Service.
An S-P-S news release says they were called to a business in the 3300 block of Fairlight Drive at about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man assaulting a woman that he knew. While the first arriving officer was beginning to investigate the incident, the suspect in the initial assault struck the Sargeant in the face. Following a brief struggle, the 26-year-old man was arrested. Neither the female victim or the police officer were seriously injured. The suspect is charged with assault with a weapon, assault by choking, assault on a police officer and failure to comply with court-imposed conditions.
