The May precipitation map from Environment and Climate Change is brown—signifying low rainfall totals over most of northern and central Saskatchewan.
It was the second driest May on record in La Ronge and the third driest in Prince Albert with both centres receiving less than three millimetres of rain. The southern third of the grainbelt received below normal precipitation with Estevan being the only major centre with above average rainfall due to a Colorado low that clipped the southeast corner of the province on May 15-16.

May was warmer across the province with northern areas seeing the largest increases.
