Local climate justice advocates have organized The “Powerlines Not Pipelines” rally calling for urgent investment in a national clean energy corridor-not more pipelines.
The rally is scheduled Sunday, June 1st from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm by the Vimy Memorial Bandstand, as premiers and the Prime Minister arrive in Saskatoon for the First Minister’s Meeting.
Community members are calling for inter-provincial cooperation to build a “pan-Canadian clean electricity corridor”.
Building a Canada-wide energy grid would provide the linked provinces with clean hydro, solar and wind power, ensuring a resilient and equitable energy future.
The event is a peaceful, inclusive rally and welcomes all ages. Organizers are inviting people to wear green, bring signs and show support for bold, cooperative climate action.
