Candle Lake Emergency Services is increasing its wildfire preparedness and details on that will be shared at 10 a.m. this morning at a news conference in the resort village.
The SPSA moved their Incident Command Centre previously located at Lower Fishing Lake, to the Resort Village community grounds. This took place between 1:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Over 125 people are working in the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency Incident Command Centre.
Resort Village of Candle Lake Fire Chief Jim Arnold says that the Camp and Shoe fires escalated and forced the move of the SPSA personnel. In a news release fire officials says both the Camp and the Shoe fires are not contained and they have now merged to become over 115,000 hectares in size.
The fire was 21 km away from Candle Lake this morning and several evacuations have occurred in the area. Highways 106, 120, 912 and 913 have closures in effect.
